Brian Heywood
Peace of mind
The world weather seems crazy, no-one knows what's going on!
Brian's latest release is best described as a indie pop / rock song with a blend of contemporary folk and acoustic rock
with a strong ecological message. The song features prominent guitar work, melodic vocals, and a songwriting style that
emphasizes storytelling and introspection. The arrangement is organic, with a focus on natural instrumentation rather
than heavy electronic production, which is characteristic of modern folk and singer-songwriter genres.
A decade and a half ago Brian Heywood and poet Bob Harding-Jones put together a show that took a look at our relationship
to the world we live in. "Thinking about our world" explored with music and poetry diverse topics such as life, wildlife
extinction, rural development and the way we live in today’s post-industrial world. In fact, the show opened a window on the
way we use, and abuse, the place we live along the lines of Al Gore's took Oscar wininning film "An Inconvenient Truth" and
the amazing "Age of Stupid" films.
Are we approaching the end of the world (as we know it)?
Originally recorded in the UK with the final production taking place on the east coast of Australia, this powerful, edgy guitar driven track has rich vocals and
a tight rhythm section. This song was written for a show staged in 1999 called "Thinking about our lives" and it is a real shame that the situation has not changed
25 years later.
