The song Outta Here was started on the flight back from the Womex world music conference in Seville and
is an upbeat reflection on how people react to difficult situations. The world banking system had just
melted down and many people were struggling to survive the blow. The 'bar in Spain' mentioned in the
third verse is a real place in the old town of Seville and is a traditional family run Tappas bar called
El Ringconcillo with sides of
smoked pork hanging on hooks from the barrelled ceiling. The only information technology they use is a
piece of chalk with which they keep a tab for each customer on the ancient oak bar.
The original track was recorded at producer Andy Neve’s studio in Oxfordshire and features Brian on
lead vocals and all the guitar parts while producer Andy supplied backing vocals, keyboards and programmed
the drums. The track was co-released by NUB Country after a successful collaboration with BBC Radio 1 John Peel’s
favourite Pyschobilly band The Pocket Gods.
